Finding the Balance

They say we should live in the moment but I am not entirely sure about that philosophy. How can we find balance if we are not putting different elements on the scale at different times and is that not a conscious decision?

I agree we must give all of our attention to the task at hand and I think this is something many people struggle to do. It is hard to concentrate. It takes some effort to stay focused. It does not come naturally or easily. That is what living in the moment means to me but I think we need to pay attention to decisions we make in our daily lives to try to create more balance.

So how do we do that? I shall never forget the moment when I started my studies at IIN and they spoke about balancing four elements in our lives: career, relationships, spirituality and physical exercise. This was a real eye opener for me. When I am feeling overwhelmed with my life I look at what is out of balance and I know that is the area that I need to focus on.

Career and relationships are somewhat diametrically opposed and again one must make conscious decisions to find the balance. Work time or relationship time? That is the question we need to ask ourselves sometimes. Quite often it is work that takes over and becomes the priority. Sometimes it is important to put friends and family first. It is that simple. Intuitively we know what the right answer is but too often we ignore our intuition.

I had no idea what they meant about spirituality when I first started studying at the Institute of Integrative Nutrition in 2014, but since that time I have developed a spiritual practice through my yoga and it is one of the most fulfilling parts of my life. Yoga is not a religion but depending how you develop your practice it can be very spiritual and this was the bit that was missing from my life.

Finally, physical exercise must be present throughout ones life for the body is meant to move and it is the easiest way to maintain physical and mental health. The more you do the more you want to do. It needs to be part of a daily or weekly practice. It will make you feel so much better and you will find it easier to handle the stresses of everyday life.

I realise the importance of finding balance in my life and I hope to be able to help others do the same. I will be offering a treatment program including massage and yoga on a one to one basis. It is so important to take time for yourself. It allows you to tap into your intuition and this ultimately helps you make better decisions and create more balance. Lets work on that together.
